Whew, that went by fast!

Happy Monday Y'all!

Wowza, did the weekend just fly by or is it just me?  Mine was jammed packed but a whole lot of fun which means I didn't exactly have a restful weekend but it's Monday again and I don't have to travel so I am all sorts of happy.

Friday night, I had date night with the cutest 10 year old in the land :)  Besides having to pay for myself, it was probably one of the better dates I've had in over a year.  We went to dinner and a movie and then had a slumber party.  Paddington is the movie we saw and it really was cute, reminiscent of a 101 Dalmatians type movie with a Cruella de Vil villain played by Nicole Kidman.  The movie theater we went too had awesome reclining seats and I honestly could have stayed there for a few hours.

Saturday morning, I was up early and had made this beautiful mason jar display of yogurt, granola and berries and then I saw this little gem on the local news channel and was secretly coveting it instead of what I was eating.  This will definitely be on my next party menu!  It is mini Eggo waffles with Chicken Nuggets skewered on top---Chicken 'n Waffles!  So Cute!

Late Saturday morning, my friend Deven and I took her kids along with my gal pal Kattie and her BF Alex to Defy Gravity.  It's a big trampoline park that I'd been dying to go to for many moons and boy, oh boy, was it fun!  Surprisingly enough, I didn't break or injure anything, although I did wake up with a tiny bit of shoulder soreness on Sunday morning.  If you follow me on Instagram, check out my flip video--it was a hoot (and if you don't and want to, my username is nc30grits).

Saturday evening was spent with my church Lifegroup gals having dinner and walking through the Compassion Experience.  If you haven't heard of this event I strongly encourage you to check it out and see if there is an event near you.  You can find their information here.  My church has been prepping us for this over the last several weeks as it is one of the ministries we are involved in and many in our congregation support.  And y'all, it definitely got me realizing more so than ever how blessed I am with just the small things in my life.  My pastor put it this way, "If you woke up this morning with a roof over your head, heat in your home, had breakfast and a car to get you to church this morning, then you have so much more than most in 3rd world countries can even comprehend."

Sunday was spent just as busy as what the rest of the weekend had already been.  During our church service, we had a guest speaker who was a former Compassion kid from the Dominican Republic.  He spoke about what it meant to him having a sponsor and how his life was forever changed because of this person and the love of God.  At the end of the program, we all had an opportunity to view the children's packets who were still needing sponsors and I felt God lay on my heart that I needed to do it--no more thoughts, no more praying, just do it!  And I did!  Her name is Charleny, she is 4, she lives in the Dominican Republic and now she is part of my family!  To say I'm excited to support her, love her and show her how much of a blessing she is would be an understatement.  I'm going to save the rest of this for a separate post as I feel she only deserves that but I did want to give her a quick introduction.

The hands on her hips are what sealed the deal for me---love me a child with a lil' sass!

Sunday, after church, I had a tag along for the rest of the afternoon--my favorite 3 year old K who gave me her best "I go home with you, I miss you".  Now, who can refuse that :)  So we spent the afternoon eating PB & J's, napping, watching Frozen for the 817,492nd time, having serious conversations with Serena the poodle and taking selfies.  My cup runneth over!

Wait, was it Super Bowl Sunday?!?  Just kidding, I had the game on, albeit I wasn't really watching until the commercials came on because I couldn't give two hiney's about football (just keepin' it real).  My fave commercial though was the Fiat/Viagra commercial---OMGeee!  Like I seriously LOL!  And also in the effort of keepin' it real, I loved the halftime show and have been dying over all the hilarious FB posts of Katy Perry/Will Ferrell "Blades of Glory" side by side photos.  Maybe not the best flame outfit of choice but hey, whatevs.  Listen, I seriously love me some Missy Elliott and I would never push Lenny Kravitz out of my bed for eating oranges (Sex & the City homage) but I thought Katy did a great job!  Every artist always takes heat after the Super Bowl half time show but I'm sure she was laughing the whole time after getting her pay day while taking her private jet home to her multi million dollar home.

And now it's Monday, I started out the morning bright and early with my trainer, gobbled down some Nutella toast with strawberries, am currently sipping a homemade iced coffee, getting this blog post done and starting my day!

Whew, that was exhausting getting all of that out!  I typically don't have that much going on but it was a great weekend spent with great friends!

I hope you all have a super fantastic Monday!  Come back for some good stuff later in the week!

We LOVE compassion! We have sponsored a child for almost 3 years now! It has been awesome to let Jagger be a part of it and teach him about others that are not as fortunate! and that nutella/straweberry toast looks yummy!!!

Oh wow, Megan, that's so great to hear! I am super excited about sponsoring! It has definitely been such an eye opening experience. I actually just got finished writing my post about her that I'll publish first thing in the morning. And I can't wait to send off my first letter to her. Oh my word, I have eaten Nutella/Strawberry toast every morning so far this week---I believe I am officially obsessed :) Thank you so much for reading!
