Happy Monday Y'all! Weekend Recap Time

Hi Gals-

Hope you all had a super fantastic weekend!  I promised you last week after my "glass is half full" meme that I would be back to my normal self today and I am...Monday's suck!  And this comes from a person that works from home and doesn't really have a set schedule.

So, last night I went to bed gung-ho (is that how you spell that?) about Operation Swimsuit.  You ladies know what I'm talking about, right?  Summer is just around the corner and girls, my body is not ready to see the likes of a bikini or tankini---oh hell, let's be real, I'm not ready for a mumu.  BUT, I got a FitBit over the weekend after the encouragement of my girlfriend and was all ready to start out the morning right.  I had set my alarm for 5am to go to the Y to get some cardio on first because I had my regularly scheduled workout with my trainer at 645.  Well, wouldn't you know that I turned off my alarm and went right back to sleep.  I did go work out with my trainer but that just means that I still have cardio to do---ugh!  And today is a cold, rainy, yucky day in NC!  Dang, who turned off the heat?  It's Spring!  As a sidebar, I am really liking the Fitbit Flex, although I have only been wearing it for 4 hours.

OK, so what did y'all do over the weekend?  Mine was surprisingly quiet and I kind've enjoyed it.  Le Guy was traveling for work this past week and wasn't back in town until late Saturday night.  Friday I did a little retail therapy at my home away from home, Target, but not for me--well, for my house but not really for me.  My sister helped me bring over my twin bed from my old house Friday afternoon so I could put it in the kids room.  I have a guest bedroom but wanted to put my other bed up just in case the kids decided to sleep in there (even though I know they will still sleep with me).  I think it turned out super cute even though my anxiety level increased a little bit since the wood doesn't all match but oh well.
Saturday morning, my Life Group gals came over and we had a great time of food and fellowship.  Instead of taking a nap like I really wanted to, I decided to overhaul my closet and transition out of Fall/Winter.  I didn't realize what an undertaking it would actually be but 4 hours later and 4 of these containers and my closet is officially Spring/Summer oriented!

Sunday was pretty routine except that I had the kids after church.  After a super healthy meal at Sonic's (hey, I knew Operation Swimsuit was happening today so I planned ahead), the kids and I settled in for a lazy Sunday.  Before I knew it, all 3 of them were knocked out.  I am so blessed to be in these babies lives.  #mycuprunnethover

I find this photo so funny.  No puppy was harmed during the taking of this photo but it sure does look like she is strangling her, doesn't it?  I would've posted it on IG but thought people might go all PETA on me.
Totally unrelated to the weekend other than I saw this picture on Saturday but if you've followed this blog for any amount of time, you know I'm a big fan of Sex & the City.  I love me some Sarah Jessica Parker---all the way back to Girls Just Want to Have Fun and if you didn't know, she launch a shoe line (last year I think).  Anywhoodle, I follow her on IG and she posted this picture.  I am a huge lover of all shoes with heels.  I think it makes my legs look longer and leaner and I've been told that for every inch on your heel you look 5 pounds thinner so as far as I'm concerned give me a 4-5" heel and I'm good to go!  But some shoes just don't work for everyone and this picture is complete evident of that.  You may have to click on the photo to get the full effect but don't the feet in the gold heels look painfully squished in--like a can of Vienna sausages.  SJP, girlfriend I love your shoe line although I'm pretty sure I can't afford it but take notice of photos you are posting for advertising purposes :)

Alright gals, that's all I have for you this morning!  I've got some fun posts planned for the week so be sure to come back and check them out!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday Girls-
Who's happy it's Friday?  This gal sure is.  I've had a rough week physically.  Because I travel most of the time, I feel my body and mind are both constantly playing catch up but the last few weeks have really done me in and I think it all caught up with me yesterday.  I was exhausted.  After a few flight delays trying to make it home on Wednesday, I finally walked into my house at about 11:30pm.  I had to get up early to take my dogs to their dental cleaning but came home, ate breakfast with my sister and I went back to bed at 10 and didn't get up until 2.  I didn't even write and plan my Friday Favorites until this morning.  I've just felt off all week.

But it's Friday...and I have a full weekend to really do nothing.  I don't have anything planned except my Life Group tomorrow morning and Le Guy is coming home from the West Coast tomorrow night so I get to see him and smooch on his face a little bit.

HAPPY FRIDAY!  LET'S GET TO DANCING!

Alright y'all, let's get down to it.  I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci for some Friday Favorites.

ONE:
Let's talk about my favorite product of the week.  It's Spring!  Yeah!  And what comes with Spring--a whole bunch of sandals, open toed wedges, flip flops, etc are all part of my shoe rotation.  With that being said, I've always struggled with cracked heels.  When I was in Vegas last week, I wore flip flops during most of my sight seeing travels so when I came home I was dealing with a horrible crack on my right foot that was painful to the point of not even wanting to put all my weight down to avoid it.  That is until I picked up this beauty at CVS of all places.  Y'all--I slathered this on Saturday night and by Sunday I was in good backless shoe condition.  It works--like for reals!

TWO:
This was my favorite meal of the week--hands down!  Since I travel so much I have the opportunity to eat at many delicious restaurants.  Well y'all, this was one of them.  This place was called the The Ginger Man and it is located in Norwalk, CT or SONO (Southern Norwalk).  They have tons and tons of beers and to this beer fanatic, I was in love.  I chose the Wachusett blueberry beer from MA and it was amazing.  But they also had an eclectic menu and my meal that night was duck confit quesadillas. They were unbelievable!!!!!

THREE:
My favorite FB picture of the week is this!  I giggled and LOL when I saw a FB friend of mine post this to another friend who had asked for her delicious pancake recipe.

FOUR:
This is my favorite WHATEVERUCALLIT (said in my best Data voice from the Goonies).  I love blogger world and I love the friends that you make through this.  Megan from More Sweet Tea Please? is one of those gals that I feel so blessed to have "met" through this crazy blog life.  She has been encouraging through sweet emails, left me sweet comments on my blog posts but the best thing she has (other than being a rockstar wife & momma) is her crazy love of meme's like myself.  I live for finding the best meme's of the day to post on this blog or IG.  And it's amazing some of the subjects you can find.  Well, when I was feeling down in the dumps about my flights delays on Wednesday and really wanting to get home I get a text from this crazy gal and she immediately lifted my spirits.  I was laughing so loud that people were staring at me...probably thinking I was all cuckoo for cocoa puffs but I didn't care.  When I was boarding, a lady that was sitting near me during my personal comedy routine said, "Gosh, I wish I could've been reading what you were."  This is the reason why I'm so happy I started this blog!  I would never have had the opportunity to "meet" this awesome gal.

Alright gals, hope you all have a super fantastic Friday and an even more amazing weekend!  Come back on Monday for my weekend recap.

What I Wore Wednesday

Hi Girls-

OK, so I struggled with post for today and I'm actually writing this while I'm sitting in the White Plains, NY airport.  My flight is delayed---ugh!  I've never done a "What I Wore Wednesday" post because frankly, I rarely take clothes photos for a couple of reasons.

1)  I live in my pajamas as I work from home and rarely get out of them unless I have to go somewhere during the day.  That sounds so sad as I actually write that out!
2)  I don't think of my clothes as really being that cute so I don't want to waste any of my readers time.

If y'all are looking for some cute fashionistas to follow, you must check out my LLBFF Megan's blog here or my girl Shelly's blog here.  Now these girls know how to dress and oh, how I envy their fashion sense!

These are a few pics of the outfits I wore over the last couple of weeks.  You'll have to use your imagination on some of them as some are only upper body shots.  I just never think of doing full body photos.

I am in love with this tunic...especially the color.  What you can't see if that the back is completely open.  It's pleated with a leather tie belt and comes about mid-thigh.  I think it is intended to be worn as a dress but it would be way too short for my liking.  I got this at a local boutique Molly Malone's last Fall and actually forgot I had it in my closet until a few weeks ago but have worn it almost every week since.

These are my go-to Winter black boots.  I love these and have worn the heels down to nubs.  I need to get them redone because they are my absolute fave.  I'm also wearing my "slick pants" or my faux leather leggings.  I am the leggings Queen and wear them pretty much all Fall & Winter long.  Also, Le Guy is a pretty big fan of them as well!

I picked up this plaid button down beauty at Old Navy.  I would say 70% of my wardrobe comes from Old Navy.  I wore this with navy blue leggings and brown ridings boots The fit is always the same for me and I typically don't even try anything on.  And I have worn this green necklace from Charming Charlie with almost everything.

So, gold has been my thing since Spring started in NC!  And honestly I really haven't been that interested in it...until now!  Maybe my taste has changed---I don't know but this is also one of my go-to necklaces that I am wearing several times during the week.  The dress is also from Old Navy and I just picked it up a few weeks ago when they put out their new Spring arrivals.  I found that if I don't get it when they first put it out, I only have leftovers to choose from.  No Bueno!  The color looks black in the picture but is actually navy blue.  And the mint--oh, how I swoon over the mint!  I am 100% sure that it is going to be my new signature color for Spring & Summer!

Bottom of the dress.  My legs are my favorite part of my body and I live in dresses when the weather is warm.  Please excuse how white they are---operation Sunless Tanner is already in effect!  Wedge sandals are Franco Sarto and were bought from Nordstrom too long ago for me to remember but I love them!

Again with the mint & gold!  I am in love!  Tank & Cami also from Old Navy---go figure!  I used to sell Premier Jewelry and have a stockpile to choose from but again gold has been calling me name :)

OK gals, that's my first (and probably my last) What I Wore Wednesday!  Come back tomorrow for Thinking Out Loud Thursday!

Three Things Tuesday

Hi Girls!

Happy Tuesday!  I am up in cold CT--ugh, take me back to NC!  I got off the plane yesterday in White Plains, NY and had to wait for my bag plane side and it was in the low 20's with the wind howling like crazy.  Oh and I didn't have a jacket.  I think I left a couple of fingers and toes out on the tarmac.

This has nothing to do with Tuesday but is totally what I looked like trying to make it through airport security yesterday and to the Starbuck's line before the masses hit and I had to wait for 20 minutes for my Vanilla Iced Coffee.  Ain't nobody got time for that!
So, I am totally stealing this blog post from somebody BUT I can't give credit because I can't remember who I stole it from.  I made a note in my phone but forgot to take a picture of the blogger that did it.  With that being said, if you are said blogger, thank you for the idea!

I mentioned last week that I really enjoy these "Get to know the person behind the blog" posts and I thought this was a fun way to dig in a little deeper.  I love reading posts like this so feel free to steal the idea if you want ;)
  1. Three things that scare me: Horror movies (I just can't watch them...none of them, even the ones that are too stupid to be real.  I have terrible nightmares).  Getting in water that I can't see my feet in (lake, ocean unless it's the Caribbean, etc.)  Having someone show up at my house when it's not in perfect order.
  2. Three people who make me laugh: Myself (I totally think I am the funniest person I know).  Le Guy.  K (one of the little's in my life).
  3. Three things I love:  My sister.  Cookbooks.  Starbuck's.
  4. Three things I hate:  Lima beans.  People that constantly complain and aren't grateful for the little things in their life.  My obsession with my weight.
  5. Three things I don't understand:  Why bad things happen to good people.  How I still can't parallel park even after practicing a gazillion times.  When people Vague-book on FB (if you don't want people to ask you what's wrong, don't put it out there).
  6. Three things on my desk:  My Bible.  A coffee cup from last week.  IKEA catalog.
  7. Three things I'm doing right now:  Typing this blog post.  Watching Dancing with the Stars (which I vowed not to get sucked into).  Planning my day tomorrow in my Whitney English Day Designer.
  8. Three things I want to do before I die:  Spend a month traveling in Europe.  Meet my "child" from Compassion International.  Sky dive.
  9. Three things I can do:  I can sing (even though I tell everyone I can't).  Get ready in 20 minutes (including shower, make up & hair).  Entertain like nobody's business---I live for throwing parties.
  10. Three things I can't do:  Put eyeliner on straight.  Put together anything..even if it has specific instructions (A goes into B, B goes into C, etc).  Take a compliment without feeling uncomfortable.
  11. Three things you should listen to:  Everything your momma says (all of it is true--every last bit of it).  Your instinct.  Your friends (if they love you and I'm assuming they do because you call them friends, they really have you best interest at heart).
  12. Three things you should never listen to:  People who put others down.  Cheesy 80's hair band ballads when you are depressed or sad (I must've listen to Cinderella's Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone) a jagillion times when I was a teenager (y'all can relate, right?).  Any dating advice from Vh1.
  13. Three things I'd like to learn:  To speak Spanish & Italian fluently.  To love and accept myself 100%.  To bake a soufflĂ©.
  14. Three favorite foods:  Italian.  Mexican.  Chinese.
  15. Three beverages I drink regularly:  Water.  Sweet Tea.  Wine.  (Obviously not in that order---we know that wine is #1)
  16. Three shows I watched as a kid:  Punky Brewster.  Out of this World (y'all remember this show with the girl named Evie who could pause time by putting her fingers together).  Full House.
OK y'all--tell me three things about yourself!  Have a great rest of your day!

Viva Las Vegas & Weekend Recap

Hey Y'all-

Happy Monday!  I am jet setting off to CT this morning but thankfully, it will be a short travel week as I'll be coming home on Sunday.  In lieu of my normal "I Hate Monday" meme, I'm switching it up a bit---let's take on Monday like a boss y'all!  Don't worry, I'll be back to my normal "half is glass empty" cynical Monday morning self next week ;)

I'll recap my weekend first before I dive in to my fun Vegas trip last week. So, last I left y'all on Friday, I was sitting in the airport waiting on a 1am redeye flight home.  I landed around 8:30 in Charlotte and my day just went crazy from there.  I went to pick up my pooches from my sister's house down in SC and had some work stuff that had to get caught up on, especially because I didn't get a lot of work done last week.

Friday night I had pizza and wine and watched one of my favorite movies of all times...Goonies!  Well, I watched the opening few minutes and I passed out.  I woke up at the "Andy...you Goonie" wishing well scene.
Saturday, I was up super early for my church ladies Life Group.  I know I've said it before y'all but I am so blessed to have these women in my life.  They are helping me to grow closer to God and I can't even imagine my life without any of these ladies in it.  Afterwards, I had full intentions of doing housework, cleaning out my closet, transitioning all of my Fall/Winter clothes to Spring, etc but I hit the couch at 11:30 and was out until close to 3.  I was exhausted!  Oh, and I got this beauty in the mail!!!  Whoo hoo!  Can't wait to wear this!
Sunday, I was up for the 10am service and served at the 11:30, had lunch with one of my best girlfriends and her two littles at Olive Garden (oh, how those breadsticks are like crack).  I packed up my pooches yet again and headed South.

Alright y'all...let's talk Vegas!

Ha!  I thought this was so funny!
OK, so I've only been to Vegas 3 times---and each of those times has been for work.  I have decided that my next trip will be with friends because there is so much fun stuff to do.  And it's not all naughty, drinking, gambling stuff--although I did partake in all of those categories.  If you follow me on IG, I posted a ton of food and fun pictures so I'm trying not to duplicate any of those.

I arrived late morning on Tuesday and I may or may not have delayed calling my rep guy by a number of hours to see if he needed any help in set up.  Come on, he's been there since Saturday---I knew good and well that he had everything done by that point (which he had and that's what I pay him for).  So, after a quick shower and change, I headed off for the Vegas Strip and spent the next several hours at the Bellagio & Caesar's Palace just walking around, did a couple slot machines, walked through Prada, Fendi and a number of other stores I couldn't afford anything in and just people watched.  It was fabulous!

Serendipity 3--Frozen Hot Chocolate...I don't even feel guilty about the 100 zillion calories consumed.  I ate every last bite of it!

After watching the fountain show at the Bellagio, I took a quarter and made a wish before throwing it into the water.  Of course I wished for "To be able to eat everything I want and never gain weight."

Wednesday was a work day so I spent the from 9-5 in a convention center but after a quick shower and change and reservations made at my favorite Italian restaurant ever I was ready to hit the town.

I mentioned on Friday during my Friday Favorites that this place, Rao's, was one of my favorites.  Y'all, it is delicious!  I ate there two years ago and I've dreamed about their spaghetti ever since.  Plan on spending a little bit of green if you eat here because it's not like Cousin Eddie's buffet from Vegas Vacation but it really is worth every penny.  Best spaghetti Bolognese I have ever eaten!

After dinner, I wanted to work off a few of my carb laden calories so I took another stroll down the Vegas Strip for some nighttime pictures.  I {heart} this city---even though I was by myself!

So, after I was finally able to breathe again from eating so much and doing a bit of walking, I was just in time to buy some last minute tickets to a show that had some great reviews.  Now, if your ears can't handle some foul language and you aren't looking to see some vulgar things, I wouldn't suggest you seeing it.  This is not a family show but there was no nudity.  I liken it to a dirty version of Cirque du Soleil.  It had acrobatics, tap dancing, trapeze, a tight rope act, singing, a girl in a balloon, etc.  I loved it!

My last day in Vegas was Thursday but I knew that I would be have to stay up all night long as my flight wasn't leaving until 1am Friday morning.  After a day at the convention center, I went back to my hotel to relax a little bit and have a beer.  Really I was just killing time because I wasn't ready to start walking around just yet.  When I did venture out, my first stop was Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum.  I have ALWAYS wanted to go to a wax museum.  Here are my observations:  1) It's much easier to go with someone else so that all your photos aren't selfies and 2) Wax museums are a little bit creepy--although I would totally go again.
I'll be honest, if I could have found a way to get up on this wrecking ball I totally would have!

Finally, I have held hands with my boyfriend Jon Bon Jovi!

There was a 4D superhero flick that I caught while I was there---movie was boring but the 4D effects were pretty cool.

Alright, alright, alright!

Totally, my most favorite pic ever of the evening!

Me & the Babe--my Yankees fan status just totally went up!

I ended my night before heading to the airport at a candy store inside The Venetian--hello, needed a sugar high to make it the rest of the night.  I ended up with with jelly beans and chocolate.

Alright gals, that's my weekend recap and my fun time in Las Vegas!  I hope y'all all had a great week and weekend.  I'm thinking this week is going to be a hodge podge of blog posts so be prepared.  Have a good rest of your Monday y'all!
