Weekend Recap...Vacation Edition---Fireworks, Hot Vets & Swag!

Hi Girls-

Happy Monday!  Yes, I am on vacation but I missed y'all so much that I thought I would catch up real quick.

OK, before I get into what I did over the weekend, I would be remiss if I didn't give all sorts of congratulations to the USA Women's soccer team for winning the World Cup and playing the most exciting game I've ever seen.  And I'm not even that into soccer but I was on the edge of my seat.  It was crazy awesome!  Way to go USA!

Alright gals, here's the abbreviated version of my weekend.  I am having a super great time with my family and friends and know this week is going to fly by but I am going to try to enjoy every second of it.

I had kind of a late start on Friday morning because I decided to go work out first.  I think I was already realizing the massive amounts of calories I would be consuming through cocktails and good eatin' so I wanted to do my body a little good beforehand.

This was the first picture of my vacation!

If you follow me on IG (nc30grits), you already saw this picture but I made a brief pit stop to pick up peaches, blackberries and some apple butter at my favorite farm on the way to the beach and picked up this beauty: a peach enchilada!  Oh my word gals, it was totally worth the 8,432 calories that I consumed driving down the road!  So worth it!
I am so lucky that my girls are such good car riders.  They have been in a car since they were babies and spend most of their riding time in this bed sleeping.  But once we got closer, they could smell the salt air and knew that it was almost time to get out so their excitement kicked in....and so did mine.  I'm like a kid in a candy store knowing that I'm that close to the beach.  It's my happy place!

After unloading everything and replacing one of the air conditioners in the camper (ugh, but such is life), we settled in and had one too many cocktails which made this particular game of Heads Up super fun!  If you haven't downloaded this app, you must!  It really is a good time and everyone can play it!
Saturday rolled around and it started out stuendously!  I love not waking up to an alarm clock and rolling out of bed to have coffee by the sea.  Coffee always taste better with a little sand mixed in :)
But here's where a little excitement came into play.  One of my sweet fur babies started yelping when she jumped down off things and me, being the overly cautious pet momma, went on the search trying to find a vet open July 4th weekend.  Which by the way is no easy task!  Luckily, I found a vet who was able to get me in that morning and girls, this may be the highlight of my entire week.  Why you ask?  Well, because the vet that we saw was easily the hottest veterinarian that I believe exists in the whole world.  Girls, I am not kidding!  I'm talking Hottie McVeterstein.  Like, I'm not sure if it was the light shining from the hall way when he opened the exam room door or the heavens opening up for a brief moment but I am certain God and the angels above were singing when this fine man strolled into my room.  I can only describe him as having lumberjack good looks in blue scrubs.  And at the very moment, I was also painfully aware of the fact that I had on no make up, a baseball cap and a shirt that fit a bit too snug from the 5 pieces of pizza that I ate the night before.  I mean, for reals, who gets dressed up to go to the vet!!!  And get this girls, his name was Stone...Dr. Matt Stone---doesn't that just sound hot?!?  Let me also say that all the women in the office also looked like they had just stepped off the stage from the Miss USA pageant--they were all gorgeous!

These pictures don't do him any justice and I'm pretty sure this qualifies me as some sort of stalker status but, of course, I had to share it with y'all.  He said he was going to call Monday...ok, he's only calling to check up on my pooch but hey, this is my fantasy...let me live it!

OK, now that my heart palpitations settled down, let's get into the "Happy 4th of July" festivities!  If I'm being honest, this was the only firework I saw on Saturday.  I was in the camper keeping 4 dogs calm from the loud noises.  No biggie...I know what they look like.
Because of our late start, we didn't make it down to the beach until after lunch but it was perfect nonetheless and still gave me much needed time for people watching.  And there are plenty of folks to watch during a holiday weekend. Lots of patriotic bikinis and swim trunks to be had---I love America!

I will spare y'all this picture on IG a million times this week as it will most likely be a standard occurrence of how I spend everyday while I am here.  R&R!  With a little bit of alcohol mixed in ;)
Saturday night, we grilled out and I made myself sick---like I couldn't stuff anything else in my mouth because I ate so much sick!  My sister made these squash fritters and I'm not kidding, they may be the best things I have ever put in my mouth.  I'm talking like "slap your momma good".  If you are a squash and a hush puppy fan, you will not be disappointed.  Like I'm drooling just thinking about it right now.  Here's a pic in case you didn't catch it on IG over the weekend.
Sunday pretty much looked just like Saturday just without the fritters--sun, fun and cocktails.    However, I did make cobbler---a blackberry and a peach.  I'm pretty sure I've talked about Ree Drummond's recipe on here before but if you need a go to cobbler recipe, this is the one to try.  So super easy.  Mine got a little crispy because I baked it in a toaster over but once you threw some vanilla ice cream over it, you couldn't even tell.  My peach cobbler recipe is Paula Deen's---almost exactly the same as Ree's but you boil the peaches and sugar together.  Anywhoodle, it was amazingly good!
Did I mention that I love the beach?  Oh, and did I also mention that I am now obsessed with the Word Swag app.  Shelly I am pretty sure you told me about this app and I just recently started using it but I CAN'T STOP with prepared for lots of pictures with words.

This is one of my favorite songs ever and I thought this was the perfect picture to go along with it.  I'm pretty certain I'm going to get this put on a canvas to hang in my house.  I may change the font around but I'm loving it.

OK girls, that's all I have for today.  I'm not sure how much I'll be blogging this week but I don't want to get too far behind.  I will leave you with this...I saw this on IG yesterday and thought this looks like some super fun!  Who's up for it?

June in Numbers...

Hi Girls-

Happy Friday!!!!  Or as I'm calling it Happy First Day of Vacay for me!  I am heading out to the beach today and will be basking in the sun and shade (under the umbrella of course) for the next 10 days!  I don't want to make any promises for blogging next week because I really like to be current with what I'm talking about but won't be sacrificing beach time in order to sit in front of my computer.  Y'all understand, right?  Check throughout the week anyway!

OK girls, I am super excited to be co-hosting with my amazing gal pal Deena and Shaunacey whose blog I just started reading recently and she is fabulous!   I am 100% certain that if Deena and I met in real life (which we will one day) we would be the best of friends.  Now, you may not be able to pull us away from a pub drinking beer but I'm certain there would be a ton of fun had.  You must check out both of these incredible ladies!

Thinking Out Loud Thursday...A little of this and a little of that!

    Hey Y'all-

Happy Thursday girls!  OK, getting off to a slow start here.  I had planned something a little more deep today but ditched it because I really didn't want to be in that place right before vacation---which if you haven't been keeping up starts tomorrow.  And LOL, I put in vacation meme in my search browser and I kid you not, this is the first one that came up.  Ha!  But yes, that is where I'm going!

OK, today is going to be very simple.  I'm linking up with two of my fave bloggers, Vanessa and Penny for a thing they call...
Be sure to head on over to their blogs and check it out and also link up with them.  It's super fun and a great way to get to know other bloggers.

Anywhoodle, back to the simpleness of today's post.  It's going to be about everything that's going on this morning.  And will be mostly in pictures.
I saw this picture on FB this morning and I am convinced that it is supposed to be my next business venture.  Y'all in Dee & Katie?
I am helping out a girlfriend today by watching her littles.  Oh my word, they are too cute for words...this is only one of them but she definitely knows how to cheese it up for the camera.  She's playing with some of the cleaning products I sell in the bottom pictures.  Oh, how I love her!  #mycuprunnethover

We also took some time out to Skype with my sister over at Cope's Chicken Coop! If you haven't checked out her blog yet, you must do it because she is a new chicken momma and loving it.  We are nothing alike.  I say that in the nicest way possible!
And finally, I am super psyched about my new embroidered cami I received from Old Navy yesterday.  When I bought it, it was only $'s $18 now but I still think it's a great deal.  Check it out here.  Sizes are limited in white but blue and heirloom tomatoes are all still in stock.  So cute and comfy!  It was intended for beach wear but I couldn't resist wearing it today paired with my linen shorts I also picked up at Old Navy.  Their Summer clothes are just too cute and too inexpensive to pass up---especially when they are having a huge sale!

OK, gals, that is all I have for today!  Hope y'all have a great Thursday!  Tomorrow I am co-hosting with one of my most favorite bloggers ever over at Shoes to Shiraz for a "June in Numbers" recap.  Make sure you come back to check it out!

    Hey Girls-

Happy Wednesday Y'all!  Hopefully this is a short week for you because of the upcoming birthday of our sweet 'Murica.  In my case, it is T-minus 3 days to vacay and I don't have the first thing done.  But I have a list ;)

So, today I am totally borrowing, ok, let's be honest, I'm stealing a post idea from my bloggy friend Ryan over at Loved & Lovely.  If you haven't checked her out before, you must do it!  This gal has the most amaze-balls fashion sense and is smart, funny, gorgeous and makes me covet her hair more than I did Britt from The Bachelor.  Anywhoodle, in my defense, I did tell her I was going to steal it!  That makes it okay, right?

Well, let's get into's what is Currently... going on in my life...

    • daily devotional.  I'm really trying to make sure I'm spending time every day in His word.  It's hard because I get so distracted with my To-Do lists, TV, social media, etc but I find I feel so much better when I start my day off with Him.
    • Watching...The Bachelorette.  I told myself I wasn't going to get sucked into another season of this but alas, I have.  I'll admit that I wasn't the biggest fan of Kaitlyn and would have preferred Britt because OMG, have you seen her hair?!?  Dirty or not, I want her hair!  But back to the current season, there seems to be so much man drama going on and I am certain there are a few guys who should have their man cards revoked--for reals!  And after Monday night's "ugly cry like a girl" fit from Chris the dentist, otherwise known as "Cupcake", I was seriously questioning ABC's idea to have a breakup occur on the edge of a cliff in Dublin.  Umm, he got real close a few time---don't jump Cupcake, no girl is ever worth that.
    • exercise at least 3 times a week.  With all the eating I've been doing, this is the least I can do for my body.
    • Cooking...tacos.  I've been on a Mexican kick and can't seem to get enough of the yummy goodness. Now throw in a margarita and you've got yourself a party!
    • Eating...Everything in sight!  You would think that with my upcoming vacation I would be much more conscious of what I'm putting in my mouth but nope, that is definitely not the case.  Bring on the Chick-Fil-A which I actually did have Monday night.
    • Drinking...OK, so although I am not doing well altogether on my eating, I am actually drinking a protein shake at least for breakfast and sometimes for lunch.
    • Pinning...I've been seeing all these cute 4th of July decorations, especially my sweet friend Megan's decorations but have never done my own because I'm always on vacation during the 4th.  Well, all that is going to change because I didn't even realize I had a 4th of July board on my Pinterest page until today when I pinned this but lo and behold I do and I'm hoping to get some sweet after the 4th deals to collect for next year.
    • the Beach this Friday for vacation!  Whoo hoo!  Bring on the sun, sand, sea (although I won't be getting in the water--have y'all heard about all the shark attacks?) and cocktails!
    • Loving...having Abby in my home.  If you are new here, Abby is an intern at my church this Summer and has been living with me since 5/26.  This is the first time I've ever lived with anyone other than family and I thought I would hate it after a few weeks but I'm so blessed to have her here.  Plus, I found that I really like taking care of someone!
    • Hating...the guy that made me wait for him on the "date" on Sunday and that he actually texted me Monday night asking me why I stood him up saying he was there an hour before our planned meeting.  Say what?!?  Um, no you weren't--I was in the restaurant sly!  OK, "hate" is a strong word but I really, really dislike him a lot.  Good riddance!
    • Discovering...that Abby is actually leaving on August 9th.  For some reason, I thought I had her until later in August so I am pretty bummed that I'm losing her earlier now.
    • Thinking...if I'm going to go back red for the Fall.  This heat has me thinking all crazy time and desiring cooler temperatures which means a new hair color.
    • stars everyday for the great friendships that I have formed through this blog.  You girls know who you are and I love y'all to pieces!
    • it would be super cool to meet all lovely blogger friends one day.  Boy, what a weekend that would be!
    • Hoping...that I manage to get all the sunscreen in the right place next week and don't suffer a sunburn at the beach...or a hangover.
    • Smelling...Gain Wall Fragrance Plug Ins.  My office is right next to my laundry room and I am in the process of doing 18 loads of laundry.  OK, so that may be a slight exaggeration but I really have no idea how one person can accumulate so many loads.  Anyway, I have an obsession with the Gain smell (detergent, car plug in, fabric softener, etc)  and this is just another add to my collection.
    • Considering...cancelling my subscription on  I know I mentioned it in yesterday's post that I was taking a sabbatical for a couple of weeks and although I may not cancel it altogether, I definitely think that I'll stay off the site for a month or so.  So much work is involved and I think I became over inundated with it and need to get back to real life for a while.
    • Finishing...My blog posts for this week so that I can concentrate 100% on vacation.  I'm making no promises on blogging while I am out of town although if a rain storm happens to come up and I'm stuck for a little bit of time, I may let y'all know what I'm up to.
Okey doke girls!  That's all I have for today...come back tomorrow when I link up with the amazing Vanessa & Penny for a little Thinking Out Loud Thursday!
