Friday Favorites...Everything Not Fall...

Hey Girls-

Happy Friday y'all!  I hope you have had a blessed week and that you are ready for the weekend.  I cancelled my overnight trip to Chicago on account of having a sick dog--but no worries, it's just a sinus & respiratory infection.  Did you guys know that dogs could even get a sinus infection?  Yeah, well, me neither.  But my Serena girl received an antibiotic shot when we were at the vet on Wednesday and she's on an antibiotic pill for the next 8 days.  She's feeling and acting much better but I'm not taking any chances because she is 13.

OK, as I looked back over the last couple of weeks of blog posts and realized that I have been talking primarily about Fall so I am going to attempt to give y'all all of my favorites of the week without any of it pertaining to Fall at all ;)

I'm linking up with Erika, Andrea and Narci today.  If you haven't checked out their blogs yet you are really missing out.

So, let's get down to it.  Here are my Friday favorites.

Snuggles with my fur-babies.  This is a daily occurrence for the three of us.  If I sit down, they sit.  If I lay day, they lay down.  They follow me everywhere and this momma is not complaining because I love that they are as spoiled as they are.

My heart is so full because I received my sweet Abbey's Save the Date for her upcoming nuptials next year.  I literally cried when I opened up the envelope.  Are they not the cutest couple ever?!?  Hotel reservations have been made and I am starting on my Bridal Shower planning.  I just love her so much!
I am so blessed that I had the opportunity to have this beautiful girl in my home this past Summer and did I mention that I miss her like crazy?

Anyone notice a pattern in these photos?  This is so Abbey!

Girlfriends!  OK, so this is an older photo and this wasn't a picture of our meal but my sweet gal pal Jenna came over on Wednesday and brought Chinese for dinner just because.  Jenna is one of my co-leaders in my Life Group but she is also one of the sweetest girls I have ever met and I am so blessed that God brought her into my life.  Jenna is a LOT younger than I am but we have so much in common and we love talking and laughing and she is the best listener ever.  Oh and did I mention that she has the sweetest, cutest boyfriend ever.  Love this sweet gal pal of mine!

I received my new order from Be Still Clothing yesterday.  I am in love with everything that this store has.  Isn't this the cutest shirt ever?!?
I have seen the best meme's this week on just about everything but this, my friends, is by far my favorite.  I know a lot of you gals can certain relate...especially you Kimm and Jen.  This happens to me every single time I go to Target.  Every.Single.Time!
OK you lovely ladies, those are my favorites of the week!  I hope you all have a super fantastic weekend!  Come back on Monday where I'll be sharing everything that I got into this weekend!

Fall To Do List

Hi Girls!

Happy Thursday or for me, Happy One More Week Until Scandal!!!  Y'all, I am so excited about this coming back on TV.  I just can't wait to see where this season takes us.

I'm linking up with the lovely Vanessa and Penny for a little diddy they call...

I've seen several of my favorite blogger gal pals post some Fall To Do's or Bucket Lists and I thought, what a great idea because y'all know I am ready for some cool weather, scarves, and pumpkin flavored anything.  I mean, I've had my house decorated for Fall for two weeks.

Did y'all see the pic I posted on IG last night?  Well, I'm pretty sure I'm the white girl that would appear ;)
Story of my life...
The reason I wanted to get this list out there is because I'll be setting up for Christmas right after Halloween.  Yes, you heard that right, I will have a Christmas tree up when Thanksgiving rolls around. Luckily my sis, B-I-L and some friends vacation down at the beach for Turkey Day so nobody really has to carve the turkey anywhere close to the beautiful 3 trees that I decorate in my house.  Fall & Christmas are my most favorite times to decorate and I like to get at least a full two months to enjoy both which is why I decorate when I do.  I don't like to have my Christmas decorations too much longer at New Year's so that's that.

OK, y'all---so here are all the things I want to get done this Fall season.
  • Go on a hayride
  • Have a bonfire with s'mores
  • Go apple pickin'
  • Make homemade applesauce from apple pickin' trip
  • Visit a pumpkin pickin'
  • Decorate my front porch--need to get rollin' on this seeing as how my decorations will only be up for another month and a half.
  • Have a soup/stew week!  Because I live by myself I can't make a different soup every night so I'm going to plan this for 2 a week and I'll share the recipes I choose with y'all.  This will continue all through the Fall & Winter.
  • Make pumpkin muffins
  • Go through a corn maze (I hate this because it reminds me of 'Children of the Corn' but I think I'll take my friend and her kids with me so I won't be that scared)
  • Host a Fall Party---maybe Weiner & Marshmallow Roast...something of the sorts
  • Plant tulips & daffodils
  • Make Spiked Caramel Apple Cider--y'all this is too good for words if you like a hot cocktail
  • Send thank you cards to the people I love for no reason at all
OK gals, that's my list.  Do y'all have any must-do's for the Fall season?  I would love to hear them!

Come back tomorrow where I'm sharing my Favorites of the week.  Y'all have a great day!

It Really Is A Sisterhood...

Hey Girls-

Happy Wednesday!  I hope y'all are having a super fantastic week so far!  You are half way there and that I am just one mere Thursday away from Scandal coming back.  Can I get an Amen?!?

I started blogging in January 2014.  I really can't believe that it's been almost two years since I first started spilling my guts.  But I wouldn't change a thing...well, other than taking so many breaks throughout that time #bloggerfail.  I really wasn't sure exactly what I was going to write about or tell y'all about or if I would even have any readers but I put all that aside to just be honest and tell my story.  I had read blogs for many years and was so intrigued by the talent that these women had and how they would pour their soul into the words that would appear on my side of the screen and would give me so many different ranges of emotions from laughter to tears to feeling hopeful.  I wanted to be one of these gals.  And y'all, I am so glad I took the plunge because I have "met" some of the most incredible women who I truly consider to be friends and one day I think we should have a big blog love fest where we'll meet up and laugh and drink lots of wine and/or beer and talk about all the pretty clothes y'all are wearing because we all know I spend my days in pj's and then you ladies will tell me all about the wonderful men that you've been hiding since we met and would be perfect for me ;)

OK, so why am I telling y'all this?  Well, forever and a day ago, my sweet, beautiful blogger friend Katie, whom I absolutely adore as she is a fellow single gal and her love for wine is just one of the many things that I love about her, nominated me for the Sisterhood of Blogging Award.  While it has taken me a month to actually get around to posting this, sorry my friend, I am extremely honored she selected me :)  You rock, girlfriend.  Oh, and if you've never read Katie's blog, you must get over there immediately (well, read here first and than head over) can find her at The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life.  Katie's also teamed up with a group of other fabulous bloggers and created a fantastic new blog called The Blended Blog.  They are both fantastic blogs that you will sure want to follow.  Oh, and if you want to see what questions Katie answered, you can check it out here.

Anywhoodle, Katie gave me a list of 10 questions that she wanted me to answer so that y'all can learn a little more about me. goes....
  1. How has blogging enhanced your life?  How has it not?!?  If you meet my sister, she would tell you that I don't have any tear ducts.  Well, that would be true to people that don't know me well.  I consider my circle of friends, that I'm very selective in who I include, my support system.  These are the people that I share some of those deeper, darker thoughts that I would never share with anyone that I don't know really well.  Surprisingly, and to much shock for myself, I tend to share just about everything here on my blog.  I am so open in discussing stories about my parents, my love life, my life failures, the good times, the bad times, etc.  I mean, most of y'all know more about my love life than 98% of my FB friends.  Blogging is so therapeutic for me.  And I have to bring up again that I have "met" the most wonderful women who are so incredibly supportive and have given me so many virtual hugs in times of pain and that I think are now great friends of mine.
  2. What's your favorite guilty pleasure show?  If you've read here for awhile you know that I have an addiction to everything on Bravo--Real Housewives of "Wherever", Southern Charm, Below Deck, Don't Be Tardy, Million Dollar Listing, etc.  But if I only could watch one show for the rest of my life it would definitely be Scandal.  Like for reals!  You're with me, right Megan?
  3. What are you reading now?   OK, so honestly, I have been neck deep in Fall cookbooks.  I have a slight addiction to them.  Any suggestions from y'all for some good Fall reads?
  4. What are three things you can't live without?  OK, so if I take out family, friends and dogs, my three "can't live without things" would be lipstick/gloss/chapstick (I think of all these things in the same category), burlap (because it's a staple for all of my decorations), my Bible.
  5. Morning Person or Night Owl?  Umm, I can actually be either.  I don't get super enthused about waking up early but can do it without being a crazy person but I can also hang pretty late as well...just maybe not as well as I did when I was in my 20's.
  6. What season do you think is easiest to dress for?  Fall is my absolute favorite season ever...I mean leggings, sweaters, blardigans, scarves, boots and beanies.  I mean, how could you not like that, right?!?  But I think Summer is probably the easiest to dress for---a tank and shorts or a sundress requires minimal effort.
  7. Have you ever done anything that's taken you out of your comfort zone?  If so, what?  Yes, honey, I've done a ton of stuff that's taken me out of my comfort zone from working in a predominately male industry selling chainsaws and other power equipment to moving to a different state when I first started my sales career to online dating and many others but my most recent out of my comfort zone will be occurring this Saturday.  My church Life Group starts up again this Saturday and I will be co-leading with two other super fantastic ladies.  I have been having major anxiety about this because how can I lead other women when I think that I'm not qualified to do so (ie, I'm screwed up too).  God is working in me right now and I know that he has led me to do this and I am being supported by so many within our church but y'all, it's scary stepping out in faith and allowing God to do what he is actually telling you to do.  Incidentally, I actually participated in a video for my church a few weeks ago that talked about my story and why Life Group is so important to can check it out here.  Ironically, it just posted on our church's FB page today ;)
  8. Where is your favorite place to visit?  The beach is my place...which admittedly is pretty funny because I am a cooler weather girl through and through but the beach brings such calmness and serenity to my soul.  I love just sitting in the sand and watching the ocean and the sky and the sun or moon.
  9. What genre of music is your favorite and why?  I like to think I have a pretty eclectic taste in music.  I love everything from country to rock to folk to R&B to rap to jazz to contemporary.  You name it, I will probably like it but y'all I don't dance...unless it's by myself and I'm in my kitchen or if I've had too much Fireball.  I am a total white girl dancer!
  10. What would your perfect day entail?  Any day with my family and close friends is a perfect day.  Now if you throw in a little cookout with some cocktails, maybe a little beach visit with a private performance by Sam Hunt (I'll be on that kick for awhile) then it would make my perfect day complete.
Alright you lovely ladies...those are my answers.  Thank you again Katie for nominating me!  You, my friend, are fabulous!!!

Now it's my turn to ask some questions and nominate some fabulous bloggers.  Hope you girls are up to the challenge and that you haven't already done this...again, I know I'm a little late to the party ;)

Here are your questions ladies...

Why did you get into blogging?
How did you choose your blog name?
What is your favorite season and why?
If you could choose one favorite clothing style or hair style from your past to bring back, what would it be?
Do you have a favorite blog post?
Have you ever shared anything on your blog that you wish you hadn't after you had already posted it?
What's your favorite way to relax?
What would your dream job be?
What is one of your fears?
Who would play you in a movie about your life?  I totally stole this from Katie because I think it's a great question---mine would totally be Kate Winslet but more of her from 'The Holiday' and a lot less 'Titanic' ;)

Alright gals, that's all I have today!  I hope you've enjoyed getting to know me a little better.  I love posts like this.  Y'all have a great day and come back tomorrow when I'm linking up with Vanessa and Penny for Thinking Out Loud Thursday.

Ten Thoughts Tuesday...Why I Love the 'Golden Girls'

Hey Girls-

Happy Tuesday!  I'll be honest that I am posting this seeing as how I just posted my Weekend Wrap Up less than 12 hours ago.  If you didn't read it yet, make sure you do.  It's all kinds of good.

So today's post is going to be all about my love of one of my most favorite TV shows of all times.  A Show that I literally have watched every single episode no less than half a dozen times at least.  It's all about the 'Golden Girls' y'all.  I love, love, love everything about this show.  Heck, I even wrote a paper about it in my Death & Dying class in college.

Why am I writing about the gals?  Well, y'all, apparently yesterday was the 30th Anniversary from their premier on TV and I couldn't let that just pass by without a convo.

Let's just get into it...Ten Thoughts on why I love the 'Golden Girls'.

  1. The phrase "Picture It...Sicily, 19---whatever" is infamous, well to me it is, and I try to say it as often as I can.
  2. Wicker furniture---need I say more?!?
  3. The name that Blanche calls her father, "Big Daddy"--I mean, how could you not love that?
  4. The fact that the girls were emotional eaters---Hello Cheesecake!!!!  They are definitely my soul sisters.
  5. The fact that they dealt with social issues that definitely weren't discussed during this time.  Do you remember Blanche's gay brother Clayton?  Or Dorothy's cross dressing brother Phil whom they buried in a teddy when he died?  Or when Dorothy's son Michael married a much older black woman?  Or when Mario Lopez was deported because he was an illegal alien?  Or when Sophia made fun of Rose's little person boyfriend?
  6. Every single thing about Rose Nylund;  her stories about St. Olaf, her funny one-liners, the way she took it when everyone picked on her and do y'all remember this episode when she was in the dance contest?
  7. Shoulder pads!
  8. Their workout clothes.
  9. My forever love George Clooney appeared on it!
  10. The fact that girlfriends are important no matter what the age!  "Thank you for being a friend..."
I totally could have come up with another 50 things that I love about this show because it was the original 'Sex & The City'.  What is your favorite episode?

Hope y'all have a great Tuesday!!!

Weekend Recap: Missouri, Music & Muscles

Hey Girls-

Happy Monday Y'all!  Yes, I know it is super late that I am posting this but it has definitely been on of those days.  But hey, that's alright because I am still coming off my high from a super fab girl weekend to Missouri.  I had so much fun and if you follow me on IG (nc30grits) you got a glimpse of some of the things that my friend Pam and I got into.

Our weekend started out on two different planes but in the same city.  See y'all, Pam are I are both professional gals who travel which means we both have fave airlines--mine is USAir (American) and hers is Delta.  I left early afternoon and she left a few hours later.  After taking an Uber ride to the hotel, I was able to catch a couple of ZZZ's before Pam got in around 10 and we got a late dinner.  Kansas City is a great place and although I have a customer there I haven't spent a lot of time just hanging out.  When I go back for work, I will definitely put some extra time on the trip because I had so much fun.
This is what I sent to Pam before I took off---my excited face! Please excuse the boobie cleavage ;)
OK back to dinner...we had a very interesting waiter.  Interesting in the sense that I'm not quite sure if he had been drinking prior to coming in to work or had smoked a giant doobie moments before he came to our table but dude was funny.  I was having a hard time deciding between two things on the menu and asked for his suggestion between either a chicken wrap or sliders.  His reply, "Well, my lady friend had the sliders last night and she really loved them."  Me, with a bewildered look on my face rather sarcastically said "Lady Friend?!?"  He, now obviously embarrassed said, "Well, I'm not sure what to call her."  Do y'all find that as odd as I do?  I have a different thought when I hear the word lady friend.  Anywhoodle, after deciding to go with his Lady Friend's suggestion, I did order the sliders and they were just ok.  Note to self...don't take suggestions from the high waiter again.  Lots of girl talk ensued over beer and Malbec and these two gals were exhausted and ready to settle was about 1:30am by that time.  We are party animals--lol!

We had about a 2 hour drive to where we were staying in Columbia and the concert wasn't starting until later that night so we weren't in any rush to get anywhere on Saturday morning.  After sleeping in, we got up and settled on Eggtc. for brunch which I highly suggest to anyone visiting the area.  Pam had a Bloody Mary and Salmon Eggs Benedict and I had a blood orange mimosa with a classic breakfast.  Delish!

After asking our super cool waitress where we should visit in KC and getting her suggestions, we unanimously decided that Donna's Dress Shop would be our first stop.  This place was amazingly cute.
You may have to enlarge this but this dress is called the 'Steel Magnolia' dress.  Truth be told if it hadn't been $174 I totally would have purchased it...even though it wasn't my size ;)

Move over Kate Middleton.  I had always wondered how they kept these hats on and it's a headband sewn into the hat.  Pretty cool!

This is actually Donna, the owner of the shop!  Don't you just love it?!?

After walking around a bit and perusing a few shops, we had to stop in for some shaved ice.  Yummo!
I love bookstores---like seriously love them and the older the better.  We spent about an hour walking around Prospero's Books.

Belle ain't got nothing on me.  I've always wanted to stand and climb on one of this.  This one rolled too so I went up and down this aisle a few times.

OK, after all of our eating and shopping, we decided to get on the road to make our 2 hour trek to Columbia.  Only other stop we made was to the Boot Barn where we salivated all over the pretty boots and than a quick stop into Target for a small purse and some much needed Starbuck's.  We arrived at the hotel with just enough time to shower up and get ready for our night out with Sam Hunt.

OK, so I don't think I really got into this but going into this night Pam and I didn't know exactly what to expect concert wise.  She had gotten the tickets from one of her customers and it was an event near their corporate headquarters.  Our expectations were far exceeded when we realized how small the venue was and just how close we were going to actually be able to get to the hottie himself, Sam Hunt.
This is actually where the concert was held.  More on that down below.

Beer Tent--yes please!

Mechanical bull---and no I didn't have enough beer to make the decision to get up on that thing.  Plus I was wearing a dress!
OK, so when we got there, the venue is what we saw first.  Best way I can describe it is by saying it was a little bigger than a barn and was open on 3 sides.  And in terms of seeing someone in concert--it was small--and soooo awesome!  Old Dominion was playing when we got there who I didn't know much about prior to but definitely downloaded some of their music after.  They got done about 8:45 and Sam wasn't coming on until 9:30 but Pam and I shimmied our way to the stage and were about 5 feet away.  I have never been that close before.
This was the first pic I posted on IG.  This is where we were and where the microphone was.  Y'all, we were giddy!!!
Concert started and all I can say was amaze-balls!!!!  It was so much fun and Sam Hunt is so, so hot!  If you are into country music and not familiar with him, you must go check him out and if you aren't into country music you should check him out anyway because he is just sooo pretty!  I took about 200 pictures and 10 videos but I'm not going to make y'all view them all...these are some of my favorite.  And y'all, this boy has some beautiful arms---oh Mylanta...I'm not lying, I was seriously questioning my 'Man Fast' watching him.  LOL!

Before I get to the last set of pics, let me preface it by saying this, my girlfriend Pam is a HUGE Sam Hunt BIG TIME.  Like quite possibly, his #1 fan.  She knows all the words to every single song he sings, knows the town he grew up in, knows his background and has been to about 6 of his concerts with a couple more planned this year.  She's a super fan...or a super stalker--whatever you want to call it!  You know I love you girl!  OK, so although her dreams of being pulled up on stage to sing a song and then ride off in the sunset didn't occur, two things did.  She had made a sign with the name of one of his original songs that only true Sam Hunt fans would actually know.  When she held up that sign, he actually acknowledged it, pointed at her and smiled.  If that wasn't enough to make her weak in the knees, than this happened.  So, the only song I wanted to make sure I recorded the whole thing is my most favorite Sam Hunt songs, 'Take Your Time'.  I love this song!  And I am so glad I recorded it because this, my friend, is when my girl Pam's night was made.  Pam had brought a CD with her in the hopes that she would get him to sign it.  I'll admit that I was pretty apprehensive because, well, this is a concert and what are the chances?!?  At one point in the song, Sam was at the end of the stage and Pam held her hand out with the CD and pen.  Sam Hunt looked at her and then mouthed "I can't reach you" to which the crowd goes wild.  Y'all, it's all on video.  Anyway, he ends up coming back, reaching for the CD, holds it in his hand while singing, signs it and gives it back.  Unfortunately, some big Shrek guy took it first which almost caused these Southern gals to become unladylike.  Again, it's all on the video.  Y'all can check it out here.  The part where he mouths to her is at about 1:43 but than you have to watch it to the very end.  You'll get a good giggle.  Anyway, here's a still shot of all of it with Pam and her signed CD in hand.  To say she was excited is an understatement--that girl was jacked up on Sam and I'm certain that we watched the video a dozen times before we got back to the hotel.
Y'all, it was a fantastic night!  And it was even better once I was able to take off these boots after standing on them for about 3 hours straight.
Our ride back to KC was fun reminiscing on the night before, listening to some new artists, Tyler Rich & Ryan Robinette and cheesing for some photos.  But real quick...these fellas had liked a few of my Sam Hunt photos from the night before and y'all, you have to check them out on iTunes.  First of all, Hello Hottie McHottiestein but y'all, they can actually sing :)  I'm throwing up their pictures for some extra eye candy for Monday night.  You're welcome.

Alright y'all, that's all I have for this recap.  What a fun girls trip!!!  I can't wait for the next one!!!
